The Mystery of Edwin Drood 2008

Venue:  Theatre Royal Margate

Music and libretto: Rupert Holmes

Director: Syd Ralph

Musical Director: Peter Crockford

Although this production was not a piece commissioned by the company, it was a suitably unconventional musical, based on Charles Dickens' unfinished novel.

A tale of murder and mystery, it was set in a music hall atmosphere and in true music hall tradition, the role of Edwin Drood is a 'pants part' (played by a woman).

The drama ends where Dickens put down his pen and 'wrote no more' and the audience are asked to complete the work by voting for their favourite scenario as to 'Who Dunit' and also their favourite pairing of 'The Lovers'.
